Sunday Seminar - February 21, 2010

We invite you to join us for a Sunday Seminar on the opening three chapters of the book of Daniel. Our speaker will be Kirk Wellum, Principal of Toronto Baptist Seminary. Kirk will be returning on June 27 for seminar #2 dealing with Daniel 4-5-6.

We continue our study of Luke 4:1-13 looking at the Temptation of Jesus. "The first Adam was tempted in a beautiful Garden and failed. The Last Adam was tempted in a dangerous wilderness (Mark 1:13) and succeeded."

To the question "Why was Jesus tempted?" we can offer several answer.

It was proof that the Father's approval was deserved (Luke 3:22). Jesus is indeed the "beloved Son" who always does whatever pleases His Father (John 8:29).

It exposed the tactics of the enemy and revealed how we can overcome when tempted.

In Our Study in Luke's gospel we have come to Jesus' ministry of exorcising demons and healing many sick in Capernaum. We are told that "All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!" And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area." (Luke 4:36-37). He then healed many of the sick.
